About Giving Voice

"I’ve been given a goldmine"

“I feel so lucky I found the group. It’s been brilliant. It’s been absolutely right for me … The benefit has been unbelievable. I’ve been given a goldmine! It’s been a lifeline. It still is. [after end of course]”

Since 1990, health educator Jill Rakusen has developed this fantastic life-enhancing tool.  Using song as a means to promote health, joy, peace, sharing, connection, and to have more fun, Giving Voice can enhance every aspect of your life.

It is a deeply spiritual practice, compatible with religious belief or none.  All kinds of people use it: teachers, nurses, business people, healers, artists, parents and children, in all kinds of ways (even to give up smoking!).  You don't need any experience or confidence in singing - in fact, lack of it can be an advantage.

In 2003, Jill and Rachel together set up the National Foundation for Giving Voice, to further develop what GV can offer, and support people who use it.

  • "It's so fantastic!" (Health Promotion Manager)
  • "Just what we need" (Social Services Manager)
  • "My school needs this!" (Head Teacher)
  • "It really works!" (Therapist)
  • "I learnt so much!" (Management Consultant)
