AUDIOTAPES GVfP audiotapes are being distributed as widely as possible. They are not being 'sold', rather donations are invited (guideline donation of between £3 & £10), to facilitate a rolling programme of printing and distribution. Cheques payable to "GIVING VOICE FOR PEACE". The tapes contain the two songs mentioned above, and each serves a particular purpose in relation to the promotion of peace. Countless people have reported how these songs can effect change - they're not about wishful thinking! "It made me realise my responsibility for what happens in the world. At first I found this uncomfortable and a bit challenging. But then I started to rise to the challenge . and as I began to do this, all my family relationships immediately started to change. It's helped me so much!" "It helped my dearest friend die in peace" "The Time Has Come ." was conceived by in the Republic of Ireland in August 2001, as a response to the grim legacy of centuries of oppression in that island on the one hand, and to the beauty and creativity Jill was privileged to witness on the other. It was born out of deep sorrow, pain and love, and has been helping transform her relationship with all three as indeed it is doing the same for others. Subsequently, it was sung in St. Pauls Church, Manningham, after September 11th 2001 , by a group of people, some of whom had never sung before, all of whom had never sung together as a group before, and none of whom had ever heard this song before - not even in rehearsal. The recording offers an experience of exactly how participants were introduced to the song. The resulting tape has astonished and/or profoundly affected many people. "it involves a lifting up, a building, a coherent coming together - remarkable! . It demonstrates what is possible - for ANYONE - not just in relation to music" (listener to the tape, September 2001 ) A professional recording is planned - in which you could participate! "A Song About Finding Peace" embodies the experience of peace as Jill witnessed an elderly monk's calm, purposeful behaviour in the midst of what she perceived as chaos. It is dedicated to Jo Spence who was the first person in the 'outside world' to hear it in the last days of her terminal illness in 1992. It is dedicated to anyone who is struggling to cope with pain of any kind, with death, fear, uncertainty, violence, oppression and war. "It was worth coming all this way just to experience The tape insert explains how these songs came about, and gives an indication of other extraordinary ways in which they can affect people. Please note, it is really important that anyone listening to this tape takes a few minutes to read the insert before listening , as the guidelines indicate what one needs to do in order to achieve benefit. SONG CARDS These 'multi-function' cards themselves offer an experience of peace, particularly after a GV session. They're also a thing of beauty in their own right, and can be sent as a greetings card too. "I found the words on the card so helpful" (survivor of childhood torture) They can be distributed wherever they might be of value. If you'd like to play a part in distributing them, do contact us.
